Inspiration & Creative Direction
Flo Boutique isn’t just a store—it’s a community that’s been thriving for decades. With a celebrated 25-year history and a devoted customer base that has supported the boutique even before its official launch, the challenge was to capture that unique, familial energy and translate it online. Drawing on the creative direction I’ve built through art, fashion, and curation, we set out to craft a digital experience that reflected the boutique’s authentic personality. From the moment we began, the goal was clear: replicate the inclusive, funky spirit of the in-store experience on social media.
Bringing the Vision to Life
Our strategy for Flo Boutique centered on authentic content that resonated with its loyal community. We leveraged a mix of lifestyle photos, product shots, and creative skits that gave followers a behind-the-scenes look at what it feels like to be part of the boutique’s world. By treating the Instagram page like its own TV channel, we built a series of regular content drops that fostered steady engagement—taking posts from a handful of likes to consistent, growing interactions.
A key component of this campaign is the upcoming Flow Back Stories series. In celebration of Flo Boutique’s 25th anniversary, this project will tell the story of the business year by year—highlighting milestones, memorable moments, and the people who have made the journey possible. Alongside this, our collaboration with photographer Squid produced over 150 stunning images for a complete website redesign on Shopify, ensuring that every visual element speaks to the boutique’s legacy and vibrant community.
Valuable Lessons & Next Steps
Working on the Flo Boutique project reinforced that success on social media isn’t about chasing viral moments—it’s about cultivating genuine, steady growth through valuable, relatable content. We learned that documenting real moments and building anticipation well in advance can transform a healthy engagement rate into a thriving online community. It’s all about testing, iterating, and letting the creative process lead the way—even if it means stumbling sometimes along the road.
