Original Experimental Painting (Outside of Card Collection Canon)

If you prefer to experience and interpret the meaning of this piece on your own, feel free to skip the description below. I believe in giving just enough context to guide your journey without taking away your personal encounter with the work.

This 30" x 40" untitled painting marks a pivotal moment in my practice—an experiment in scale, narrative layering, and multi-perspective storytelling that predates and informs the larger scene-based works in the card collection.

On the left: the exterior of a building. On the right: its inner world. Between them, a prominent soldier’s face bears skull teeth—a recurring motif—and a large third eye holds the silhouette of a person, pulling the viewer directly into the gaze of the work.

The piece is built around the irony and gamification of war. Stamina and health bars, a cure-all QR code, and infinity symbols mimic the interface of a video game, while a sewer grate opens into a city beneath the surface—suggesting recursion, descent, and the illusion of endings. Rena appears in the bottom left, anchoring the piece in a world that is simultaneously real and unreal.

This painting is rich with micro-motifs—small details that carry their own weight and invite extended reflection. It’s a meditation on what’s visible, what’s hidden, and how war, power, and spectatorship collapse into one tangled perspective.
